Hi, my name is Madisson, and I’m a fifteen year old junior handler! My passion started for this sport, at the young age of nine. In the summer of 2012, I went to my first AKC show, with my mastiff, Peaches, and competed in Breed, along with Junior Showmanship. We came out of the ring both days, with two BOB’s, and a class win from Juniors! After that show, I started competing at local events with my dog, but I wasn’t very “serious” about the sport. During this time, I was also heavily into barrel racing with my gelding, and spent most of my weekends at gymkhanas, competing for belt buckles. Though in the year of 2015, I had a bad accident, and broke my foot, which caused me to be on crutches for the whole summer, and I was forced to take a brake from barrel racing. Within a few months, I decided to stop competing with my gelding, after getting burnt out on the hobby, and knowing I would’ve had a better chance braking more bones if I continued. I was then encountered by a breeder, who asked if I could go to a few shows with her, and help out ringside, so I decided to try out the sport, once again. It wasn’t much later, before I become addicted to the shows, and soon, had multiply breeders, owners, and professional handlers asking me to show their dogs. My passion has grown so much in the last year, and I’ve gotten recognized so much in the “dog show world”, that it’s unbelievable! I’ve gotten multiple placings throughout this year, and am now currently ranked, the Top #3 Labrador JH, #10 Cardigan JH, #10 Mastiff JH, and #14 Dachshund JH! My goal is to soon compete at Westminster, and hopefully, become a Professional handler someday. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read my story!
